Digital 101 Photo Class (Introduction to Digital Photography)

Overview:
This 2.5 hour class will introduce will introduce the digital camera user to the basic operations of their digital SLR or 'point-and-shoot' camera, and how to use them. You will learn how a digital camera works, which will make understanding all the different functions and choices a LOT easier. And, you will learn about the basics of photography itself, so that you can continue to learn more about photography if you so choose. This course is a prerequisite for all other PhotoGarden photography courses.
Topics covered include:

Initial set-up of your camera

Getting to know the buttons and dials on your camera

Basic photographic concepts (shutter speed, aperture, focus)

Basic flash (strobe) concepts and approaches

Exposure control relative to digital capture

The select few camera features truly useful for beginning photographers

Transfer of your images to your computer and beyond
Class fee and description:
$35 for 2.5 hours of lecture, Q and A, and one-on-one assistance with personal camera equipment. Owning a digital camera is not necessary, but attendees are encouraged to bring a digital camera to class.

Overview:
Knowing how, and when, to use your flash is the secret weapon of a good photographer. Not only can your flash turn night into day - but it can even turn day into night! Photography is about the control of light, and your flash allows you to produce good light even under poor conditions. Don't undervalue this most useful resource for your photography!

From learning a few simple guidelines to increase the impact and interest of your snapshots, to developing your "Photographer's Eye" through an appreciation and understanding of basic principles of artistic composition, color, and form, this two-hour course will help you develop your photographic skills to a level where you will be proud to display your work.
We'll explore aesthetic and technical concepts such as:
and train you to practice the artistic thought process of a photographer. This course will give you insights and inspirations that will serve you as you progress from beginner to accomplished photographer.

Ok, so you are the proud owner of a DSLR - now what? If you have taken a look at your Owner's manual, you face a bewildering array of choices, features, buttons, menus, options, and controls. This course will help you make sense of it all by teaching you what is important and what is not, what is useful for your favorite types of photography, and will provide specific recommendations for standard settings and controls.
This 2.5-hour course will also provide you hands-on instruction with your camera, so you can see for yourself the advantages/disadvantages of the different major functionalities of your camera. This course will have material of use for both beginners and more experienced users of DSLR's. Introduction to Digital Photography 101 is a prerequisite to this course. Topics include:
